I felt passionate about handmade bookbinding for a long time before Poema was born. I always look at a book as a perfect object with a certain humanity. I am a compulsive reader and a professional reading performer so books always had a special and important place inside me. In 2017 when I made my first (and only) photobook dummy, mentored by the portuguese internacional photographer Paula Rush in Lisbon’s Photobook Fair, I felt that I need to know more about paper, traditional tipography and bookbinding. It took me two years to created notebooks that I can show to the world and I think it was worth the wait.
Poema uses recycled acid free paper made in Portugal by small companies. I believe in small business and I wanted to support them.
Besides notebooks, Poema makes tradicional books by hand and antothypes prints. I study photography since 2007 so tradicional and natural print have to has a special place at Poema too.
If you want to know more about Poema and me, the founder and maker, please contact me. I will love to get back to you as soon as possible.
